If you have an article, a request for information or anything to do with South Shields’ history that could be included in the newsletter, please email it to the editor at the address below.  If you don’t have email, have a word with Anne Sharp at the library.  She will be only too happy to receive written articles and I can easily call in and pick them up for transcription and inclusion.  Interesting old photographs that you own would be especially welcome and, after scanning for inclusion can be returned intact.

History Group

As a member of the South Shields Local History Group, you can have the benefit of regular meetings with like-minded people, interested in a wide variety of local history.  You can share ideas, progress your research and extend your knowledge with expert and friendly help.  Most importantly, you can contribute to the knowledge and understanding that is available about this wonderful part of the world. 

Membership of the group is just £5 per year.
