Editors Review

What is interesting is the authors subtitle, including the borough of Gateshead"   For the Family Historian there is a list of subscribers to the book, showing their name, occupation and location.

Apart from the usual historical narrative there are chapters on Morals, Trade and Population.  The author noticed the following, ""the increase in the age of the population, decline in mortality rates, better cleanliness, better medical skills, and there was more females than males in the population"  The book  can be searched for names.  The index to the book starts at page 763.  You can go to the page you require by clicking on the page number in the index.  The author's work contains many foot notes, which may be useful to the Local Historian.  Well worth a browse, and remember to use the search box for surnames or topics.
