This book will be of interest to anyone interested in the history of the Town of Gateshead.  It can be rather tedious in parts, and sometimes it feels at times you are reading Council Minutes, but there is some good material between the lines of self importance of Gateshead councillors.  An interesting aspect was the financing of the Poor Law Union and the reluctance of some council’s to pay their dues.  The book is searchable by name, which may be useful to those interested in Family History.
