Wills and Inventories Illustrative of the History, Manners, Language and Statistics of the Northern Counties of EnglandAuthor: Surtees Society An online book available free from Google Books Editors Review This book is a must for Family Historians, remember you need not be rich to have been left something in a will and neither did you have to be rich to leave a Will. The index is on page 439. You can use Google search for finding surnames. The Wills cover the period from Norman times to the Regency period. I would recommend using the preface of the book as it contains useful information regarding the early days of the Surtees Society. Many people do not research Wills as they think that none of their family could have left any money. Your ancestor may have been a beneficiary in a Will and this can be researched on-line. Conclusion: This book could be a useful source of information for both Local and Family Historians and well worth researching for the hidden gems that you might find. http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=WD08AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA443&dq=wills+Inventories+Surtees+raine+1834&as_brr=1#PPR3,M1
